Our primary function is connecting businesses, organizations and government institutions to the Bensalem community and its residents. We do this in various ways, like having weekly networking, monthly meetings, and annual events.
Every Friday we meet for breakfast and networking at the Golden Corral, 1465 Street Rd., Bensalem PA. 19020, at 8 am. Members receive a special discounted price, courtesy of owner and BBD member Jon Kornblau.
Our monthly meetings will be on the second Thursday of the month. They can be at lunchtime or in the evening. The hosting company is allowed to pick the time of the meeting so times will change. If the hosting company wants to do the meeting in the morning we will have it on Friday morning. Meetings can be at a business or places such as the Bensalem Police Station, or practically anywhere else. You can check the event page for times and locations of our meetings, and meetings are not mandatory for members also. We do recommend them as we do with our networking. They are free to our members.
Our yearly events help us connect with each other and our community that we find nothing else can. They are a production and costly so we have to pass the cost onto our members. For this reason, there is a charge for the yearly events. We also have sponsorship opportunities with the yearly events.
We have an annual Picnic at Neshaminy State Park in June that we only charge $5 per member children 12 and under are FREE. We also have our BIG end of the year celebration our Annual Holiday Dinner at the Bensalem Country Club with our very Special Guest. We have had in the past a business expo and are looking at the possibility of doing another one.
We believe so much in what we are doing that we give new members complimentary membership for the REST of the calendar year.
Founder & President
Pondeli Hajioannou created a Bensalem business organization in 2009 after talking to Bensalem Mayor, Joseph DiGirolamo, about the devastation small businesses were facing following the 2007-8 financial crisis. Our Mayor, as a former business owner, suggested Pondeli take on this challenge to help others because if not him, no one would.
Pondeli invited six business owners he knew to meet at his business (Philadelphia Private Gym here in Bensalem) to talk about forming an organization of businesses to work together to get through those hard economic times. Once those businesses were OK, they decided to help their fellow business owners gain greater exposure within our community by establishing a dialogue with elected officials and promoting unity.
After an extremely productive 5-year run as their elected President, Pondeli now brings Bensalem businesses and its surrounding areas a new concept… the Bensalem Business Directory. The Bensalem Business Directory is designed for EVERYONE from traditional businesses and nonprofits (schools, religious institutions, government services) to civic organizations. He has taken what worked in his old organization and added new creative ways to expand the benefits of his nonprofit business organization.
As a business owner he knows that to achieve a goal you have to at times re-adjust your strategy and his strategy for this venture has 3 goals for you:
- Establish a relationship with your elected officials.
- Bond with fellow business owners and nonprofits through monthly meetings and weekly morning breakfast meetings.
- Hold annual events like The Picnic and Holiday Dinner.
Pondeli lives in Bensalem with his family and is the owner of Philadelphia Private Gym in Bensalem.
“To do all that he can to help another is man’s noblest labor.”
